Silgan Plastics LLC will build a 135,000-square-foot site in Erie County, Pa. that will create 30 new jobs during the next three years, according to the governor’s office.
The location in the Borough of North East will include manufacturing, warehouse and distribution space for plastic containers, the state said.
“By partnering with companies like Silgan Plastics, we are building a stronger Pennsylvania,” Gov. Tom Corbett said in a statement. “Manufacture(r)s are recognizing the benefits of making their products and creating new jobs in Pennsylvania.”
Silgan Plastics already has 20 manufacturing locations in the United States and Canada, including one in Langhorne, Pa.
Silgan Plastics is part of Stamford, Conn.-based Silgan Holdings Inc. Along with its plastics container business, Silgan Holdings also makes metal containers and metal, composite and plastic closures.
The company ranked 10th in Plastics News' recent survey of North American blow molders, with sales of $647 million. Silgan also ranked 21st in PN's survey of injection molders, with estimated sales of $300 million.
