Injection mold maker Industrial Molds Inc. is adding $1.7 million in new machinery, the company has announced.
Located in Rockford, Ill., Industrial Molds is also spending $300,000 on a renovation of its 43,000-square-foot facility to make space for the new machinery and create better work flow.
The new machinery includes an OKK HM1000S 4-axis horizontal mill to replace an older machine, a Micron HSM 400 ULP 5-axis electrode cutting machine, two grinders and three new Haas CNC milling machines that will increase the capacity of its prepping department by 33 percent, according to a news release.
“We basically looked at the areas in which we had bottlenecks and that’s how we determined the machine purchases,” Andrew Peterson, production supervisor, said in a statement. “We’ve been really busy, but sometimes it’s better to stop and take a look around to determine how we can create better work flow to help us maintain good scheduling to meet lead times. We made these purchases to help us attack the bottlenecks in production.”
