Battenfeld-Cincinnati, the extrusion systems maker, ran a lab machine producing wood-plastic composite floorboard at an open house during the Wood Plastic Composites Conference in Vienna, Nov. 3-5.
The fiberEX93 machine processes up to 88 pounds an hour.
Industry leaders from 30 countries attended the conference in Vienna. According to Battenfeld-Cincinnati, the U.S. market is growing again, at a rate of 5 percent. Europe is stagnant. The highest growth is coming from Asia.
In product trends, outdoor decking remains the main market, in both hollow and solid profiles. Interest is increasing in solid foamed profiles, to reduce weight. Applications are moving ahead in furniture and outdoor applications, company officials report.
